Thousand of kids hit the streets for Halloween Monday night and so did a number of local law enforcement officers, checking on the activities of registered sexual offenders.
Law enforcement organized the “Operation Heat Task Force” and went door-to-door making sure registered sexual offenders and predators were following strict guidelines regarding their Halloween activity. Registered sex offenders are not allowed to decorate their homes, give out candy, or even keep their porch lights on some put notes up to keep children away.
Operation heat was a collaborative effort between the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Corrections, and the Panama City Police Department.
