The US Olympic Synchronized Swim Team will not be making Panama City Beach their new home. There were several factors that played a role in that decision.
Panama City Beach Mayor Gayle Oberst joined Donna Friday morning to talk about it.
Several questions that Donna asked were:
Was the big breakdown in bringing the synchronized swim team the fact that we couldn't guarantee them full use of the pool during busy July?
Is the city considering other opportunities to bring big name sports teams or events to Panama City Beach?
A big issue early on in the synchronized swim team coming here was the need for a dome to be built over Frank Brown Park, something the city said would be too costly. Is it worth the investment for the city to build more infrastructure to make it possible for bigger events such as a stadium, more fields, etc?
