PANAMA CITY- Healthy Start of Bay, Franklin, and Gulf Counties offers a variety of programs to meet the needs of women, children, and families. It was created in 1991 to reduce Florida's high infant mortality rate. The goals of Healthy Start are to reduce infant mortality and reduce the number of low birth weight babies. Some of the services are breastfeeding and childbirth education, parenting, car seat safety, safe sleep education and helping those who want to quit smoking.
It's a non-profit organization that relies on the support of the community. That's why a paint party fundraiser is planned for this Thursday at 6pm the Palm Conference Center on Front Beach Road.
The donations from the paint party will help those in need with gas to travel back and forth to the NICU in Pensacola and to help families that struggle with putting a clean diaper on their baby. At Healthy Start they like to say they are "Changing the World One Diaper at a Time!"
Again, the event Thursday, September 12th, at 6pm at the Palm Conference Center, which is on Front Beach Road across from ZooWorld. Cost is $35 per person. To make a reservation call Suzy at 872-4130, extension 100. Or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org You don't have to be an experienced painter to create the lovely beach scene, artist/instructor Helen Balance will lead you through step by step.
