Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen has completed a 200 plus page report on the homeless issue in downtown Panama City.
McKeithen found some of the homeless issues are the result of law enforcement problems. He says in the past, sexual predators and sex offenders have been allowed to stay at the Panama City Rescue Mission, even though it’s within 2500 of churches and places where children gather. They will no longer be able to stay there.
McKeithen has also instituted tougher policies for screening rescue mission residents with arrest records, and he’s only allowing people staying at the mission to list it as their permanent address.
