Runaway Prevention Month

Panama City Mayor Greg Brudnicki will sign a proclamation Tuesday recognizing November as National Runaway Prevention Month.

There are more than 1.5 million teenagers living on the streets in the United States. The Anchorage Children’s Homes’ “Street Outreach and Recovery Program” in Panama City provides services for local teens who leave home. Program officials say it’s a growing problem in our area. Anchorage typically assists 200 teens a year.

“Street Outreach” goes to homeless camps in six panhandle counties to help teens who are homeless or have run away.
