Spouses of lawmakers give to tornado relief fund

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Wives and husbands of Alabama legislators have given $10,000 to a fund established by Gov. Robert Bentley to help victims of the April tornadoes that swept across the state.
The Legislative Club, a bipartisan group of legislative spouses, presented the $10,000 donation to Alabama First Lady Dianne Bentley.
Dianne Bentley said the donation would be used to help tornado victims with long term needs.
The president of the club is Maudie Darby Bedford, wife of Sen. Roger Bedford of Russellville. She said spouses of legislators realize it will take years for many to fully recover from the tornadoes. She said the donation is aimed to help with that process.
Dianne Bentley was a member of The Legislative Club when her husband was serving in the Alabama House.
