Last month marked the 10 year anniversary of the tragic night club fire in Rhode Island that killed 100 people. The fire began just after 11 at “The Station” on Febuary 20th, 2003. The band Great White had just taken the stage when their tour manager lit pyrotechnics that started flammable sound insulation foam in the walls on fire. The building had no sprinkler system. The fire quickly engulfed the club in less than 6 minutes. In addition to the 100 deaths, some 230 people were injured.

Since than, many nightclubs have added sprinkler systems and changed the way they manage crowds.

Thousands of spring breakers will flock to our local nightclubs over the next 6 weeks. Captain Joe Cocco from the Panama City Beach fire department joined Meredith with more on spring break fire safety.
