St. Johns Murder

Local authorities say they’ve helped resolve a bizarre murder case that spanned a large part of Florida.

They’ve arrested a Virginia woman who supposedly targeted men she met on Craig’s List.
Bay County and St. Johns County Sheriff’s investigators arrested 24-year old Latoya Korren Jordan at a home in Fountain. Jordan is charged with First Degree murder in the robbery and stabbing death of 53 year-old Daniel Stuar Somerson.

By the time St. Johns County Sheriff’s deputies found Somerson’s body in his Fruit Cove home on July 9th, it was already badly decomposed. They say Jordan met Somerson through a Craig’s List ad at the end of May, and was staying with him when he was murdered. She apparently continued to stay there, until she met a Tampa area man on Craig’s list. That man drove to St. Johns County and took Jordan back to Tampa. At some point Jordan met a 52 year-old Bay County man on Craig’s list and moved into his Forest Road home. That’s where authorities arrested her. Investigators believe he was the 4th man Jordan met through Craig’s List since Somerson’s murder.

Jordan will remain in the Bay County Jail, until St. Johns County authorities can arrange for her extradition on the First Degree murder charges.
