The charts for the race route provide all of the information a pilot needs in terms of obstacles enroute, terrain and alternate airports should that become necessary. The careful planning of altitudes and deciding which airports will be fuel stops or overnight stops is critical to the safety of the flight and the outcome of the race.

The cross country air race begins in Lake Havasu, Arizona Tuesday and ends in Batavia, Ohio.

The members of "Team Up" have been preparing for the 2700 nautical mile adventure for months. But it's more than just adventure that motivates these ladies. The team is raising money to fund a new aviation exhibit at the Science and Discovery Center of Northwest Florida. Pilots Leah Dunn and Joan Evart will be flying, while a third team member, Linda Artman will serve as ground support.
