They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend! Valentine’s Day is a popular time to deliver those sparklers to your sweetheart.
Jerome Gray from Reed’s Jewelers at Pier Park joined Donna Bell to show us what to look for when picking the perfect diamond.
Jerome tells us about the four C’s: Cut, Clarity, Color, and Carat. These are important when trying to pick out the perfect diamond.
You want to look for a cut that your sweetie really wants. The most cuts are round brilliant and princess cut.
Also, clarity is so important. You want few markings, such as carbon deposits, in the diamond you pick for your love.
You want a little color as possible. There is a scale that shows the diamond’s color rating and the less color is has makes it sparkle and shine the brightest.
When picking a diamond, the carat, or size of the diamond, will affect the cost. Diamonds are carefully weighed and measured. The carat can range as greatly as the price.
If you want a diamond that already has been carefully inspected, you might choose one that comes with a certification, such as the Debeers Forevermark.
Many diamond retailers have different types of certified diamonds and they usually come with a certificate, clearly labeling the diamond’s cut, clarity, color, and carat.
