Panama City Beach - Several locals got a chance Tuesday to show off their acting skills.

A production crew began shooting the Bay County Tourist Development Council's newest television advertising campaign today.

Pier Park is just one of the local attractions being featured in the latest television commercials for Panama City Beach tourism. Taping began Tuesday morning.

"This commercial is about showing some of the diverse opportunities that people have to use when they come visit the area. We are showing beaches, kayaking, and we are showing shopping opportunities," said Stephen Pruitt, Executive Producer.

More than 130 local and regional actors auditioned for the ads, but only 30 made the cut.

"The majority of them are from a two hour radius from around Panama City Beach and we are really excited to have local people representing the area," said Susan Estler, TDC marketing.

Mountain View Production Company is producing the commercials for the second year in a row.

"The commercial we shot last year won three international awards and we are using the same production company, so we want an equally great spot," said Julie Gordon, Bay County film commissioner.

Besides Pier Park, Tuesday’s locations included a father daughter fishing scene at the city pier and a sunset scene at St. Andrews state park.

Tomorrow morning the crew will be shooting a kayaking scene.
