Marisa and Danny are the owners of Tamara’s café and year after year they prepare the popular oyster stew that is for sale at the event.
Friday morning, they are sharing their recipe for Apalachicola Bloody Mary's.
Saturday's Cook-off starts at noon and wraps up at 5. In addition to oysters prepared just about every way you can imagine, other refreshments will also be available. It's all happening in downtown Apalachicola.
Apalachicola Bloody Mary Recipe
Ingredients are:
2 fresh oysters
1 and 1/2 ounces vodka
2 cocktail shrimp
2 large green olives
Old Bay seasoning
Celery stalk
About 6oz of Bloody Mary Mix
In a shaker, start with 1 and 1/2 oz of a good vodka, add 1 cup of ice and fill with your favorite Bloody Mary Mix just to cover the ice then shake, shake, shake.
In a 16 ounce glass, take a lemon and squeeze it around the rim.
Rim the glass with Old Bay seasoning and fill with ice.
Pour the Bloody Mary over ice in the rimmed glass.
On a frill pick put 1 green olive then 1 shrimp then 1 green olive then 1 shrimp.
Add 1 celery stalk.
Shuck two fresh Apalachicola oysters and place them on top.
Now you can enjoy an Apalachicola Bay Bloody Mary!
