The beach optimist club is continuing its mission to help local students achieve a college education.
Members of the service organization presented a $20,000 donation to Troy University officials Monday to fund a Master’s Degree Scholarship for a Panama City Campus student. The donation will provide initial funding for the new endowed scholarship program.
Takenya Lovette is the first to receive the scholarship. She’s studying for Master’s Degree in Psychology.
“It actually means a lot, it means I can continue my graduate program without any financial hardship and being the first one here at Troy means a lot,” said Takenya Lovette, Scholarship Recipient.
The optimist club funds 20 scholarships at three local college campuses.
