Tyndall Air Force Base received the first two of twenty T-38 Talon Jets on Thursday, Oct. 6. The 20 T-38’s are being transferred by the Air Force to Tyndall to be used to aid in the training of F-22 pilots.
The T-38 is primarily used for joint specialized undergraduate pilot training.
The twin-engine supersonic jets will be used to aid in the training of other pilots, and the addition of the jets is likely to yield a yet to be determined number of new jobs for the base.
The T-38 Talon is a twin-engine, high-altitude, supersonic jet trainer used in a variety of roles because of its design, economy of operations, ease of maintenance, high performance and exceptional safety record.
