Workshop Planned to Help Family Members Care for Alzheimer's Patients

PANAMA CITY- According to new statistics, in the United States, there are over 65 million unpaid family caregivers. And that number is rising. One of every 8 Americans age 40-60 is both raising a child and caring for a parent. If that parent has Alzheimer's the situation becomes that much more challenging. An estimated 70% of Alzheimer's patients live at home.

Lee Harrell from Home Instead Senior Care joined NewsChannel 7 "Today" with tips and suggestions to help ease the burden. The location is hosting a "Changing Aging through Research and Education" workshop on Sept. 17 from 4 - 6 PM at 200 Forest Park Circle, Panama City to help equip families. Call 522-1919 to RSVP.
