Updated: 09/16/2013 - According to new statistics, in the United States, there are over 65 million unpaid family caregivers. And that number is rising. One of every 8 Americans age 40-60 is both raising a child and caring for a parent. If that parent has Alzheimer's the situation becomes that much more challenging.
Updated: 09/12/2013 - This week's Golden Apple award winner teaches 4th grade at Lucille Moore Elementary school. Stacey Eckles was nominated by a parent, Alicia Golden, who writes: "She's a great teacher who is also such a blessing to the children." Those who work alongside Stacey say she is a source of constant encouragement to them as well.
Updated: 09/10/2013 - While great strides have been made to screen for breast, prostate, and colon cancer, there is still no good test for ovarian cancer. Because of that, ovarian cancer isn't usually diagnosed until the late stages of the disease, making the battle against it that much tougher. That's why a local woman is sharing her story, to raise awareness about the symptoms, so others can catch the disease earlier in the fight.

Updated: 07/31/2013 - The love and generosity of a local ministry is stretching 7,800 miles across the globe. Mercy Uganda was founded in 2009 by Bay County residents Laura & Mark Knetzer. The non-profit organization works with women and children in Uganda, many of whom have been orphaned by AIDS. The ministry is taking on it's biggest project to date and is hoping the community will partner in it.
