Woman Writes Counterfeit Checks for $2,000 in 1 day at Publix Supermarkets

Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division of the Bay County Sheriff’s Office are attempting to identify a woman captured on security video at a local Publix store purchasing merchandise with counterfeit checks.

On November 25, 2009 the woman used counterfeit checks at eight Publix stores from Okaloosa County to the Publix on 23rd Street in Bay County, getting over $2,000 in items that one day alone. She also used a counterfeit check at one Publix on November 23, 2009.

Investigators believe the name she used on the counterfeit checks was not her real name. They are asking for the public’s help to identify this woman. She appears to be in her 30’s to 40’s with long dark hair. She was wearing a white shirt and carried a dark colored shoulder bag.

Anyone with information on the identity of this woman is asked to call Investigator Kathi Bowker at the Bay County Sheriff’s Office at 747-4700 or Crime Stoppers at 785-TIPS.

You got that right Mom. Really cant see much in the small picture. Atleast make it where we can enlarge the photo. I figured all of the stores checked the validity of any & all checks they get, on the spot before they even handed the receipt to the customer.
