Bay County Commissioners are hiring a familiar face to decide on a lease proposal for Bay Medical Center.

Tuesday, Bay County Commissioners hired “First Southwest Company” Vice President and Bay County Financial Advisor Gary Akers to be their point-person for the lease. Bay Medical Center is entering into negotiations with LHP Hospital Group and Sacred Heart for a $155 million dollar lease of the hospital. Akers has advised the county on other issues like the solid waste incinerator lease.

Besides Sacred Heart’s bid, another group “Regional Care” bid $200 million dollars for the lease.
