Panama City -- This week through Saturday, Bay County Animal Control is accepting food donations for animals affected by the tornado disaster in Alabama.

“We thought this would be a good way to help not just the human victims of the recent disaster to our north but also their pets,” BCAC Director Bill Olasin said.

People who would like to donate dog or cat food may drop off their items in the main lobby of the Bay County Government Center at 840 W. 11th Street, in Panama City. In Panama City Beach, items can be dropped off at the M.B. Miller Pier located at 12213 Front Beach Rd. Donations can also be made at Bay County Animal Control, located at 6401 Bay Line Drive, in Panama City.

Animal Control officers will pick the items up during their normal daily rounds throughout the county, and arrange free transportation of the food to the Birmingham, Ala. area.

For more information, please call Animal Control at 767-3333.
