Bay County to Buy Private Utility Systems

Some residents in Bay County will now get help with private water and sewer service.

Tuesday Bay County Commissioners pledged $175,000 to Callaway and Panama City Beach to buy two private utility systems. The money will help Callaway provide water and sewer service to Sandy Creek, and Panama City Beach to help Bayside. Utilities Inc used to provide service to those areas, but people complain it is too expensive and the service is bad.

Commissioners hope to eventually buy Utilities Inc. which has said it would sell for $1.1 million dollars.
