Port St. Joe City Commissioners are scheduled to vote on a hot button issue Tuesday night, and opponents are looking to express their feelings as well.
The commission is expected to cast the final vote on a proposed biomass plant called the Northwest Florida Renewable Energy Center at Tuesday’s commission meeting.
The plant would convert things like yard clippings and woodchips into electricity. The plant would also bring dozens of jobs to the area, but those who believe the plant will pollute the environment are planning a large protest before the vote.
Protesters plan to rally in front of city hall from 3 to 4:30pm Tuesday afternoon.
