The man found floating in the gulf last week has been identified, but his death remains a mystery.
Divers on a charter boat found Matthew Bishop’s, 30, naked body floating about 5 miles off the coast of Panama City Friday. Investigators were able to identify him, using fingerprints from an old arrest and a positive ID by his girlfriend, but investigators are still trying to piece together how he ended up dead in the gulf.
A Thomas Drive resident claims Bishop broke into her house Thursday night, and told her he was there to “take her to meet God.” She managed to escape Bishop.
Authorities say Bishop then left his bike and backpack at a house a few doors away, stripped off his clothes, and went into the water.
