BELLS, Tenn. (AP) -- A 15-mile-long section of U.S. 79 in Crockett County has been designated Veterans Memorial Highway.
Signs were displayed Thursday at the Crockett County lines with Haywood County and Gibson County as a ceremony was held outside the Bells City Hall.
State Sen. Delores Gresham told people attending the ceremony she was proud of them because of their commitment to remember veterans' service, according to The Jackson Sun.
Gresham, a Republican from Somerville, and state Rep. Craig Fitzhugh, a Democrat from Ripley, supported the proposal in the Tennessee Legislature.
