False Alarms To Cost Walton County More Money

An abundance of false alarms will start costing south Walton businesses.

Tuesday night the south Walton fire district board approved an ordinance, fining businesses that have more than one false alarm per quarter. The fines start at $50 dollars and can reach up to $800 dollars by the seventh bogus call. The south Walton fire department responded to 562 false alarm calls last year, at a cost of $53,000 dollars.

The fines go into effect October 1st.
