Florida Deaths Associated From Hurricane Irene

Irene did not make landfall in Florida, but strong waves generated by the storm are being blamed for two deaths on the east coast of Florida.

In Volusia County, 55 year old Frederick Fernandez was standing in Shallow water with his surfboard. Witnesses say a massive wave threw him head first into the sand. A rescue crew performed CPR, but the man died at a local hospital. IN Flagler County, 55 year old James Plamer from New Jersey also died Saturday in rough surf.

Family members say they lost sight of him after he waded into the surf.
