Lynn Haven - Nominated by one of her students, Mosley High School math and English teacher Brenda Peacock's entire third period rallied to make sure she was acknowledged for all of her hard work and dedication to her students.

With the many pressures of high school and other challenges teenagers face today, students say Brenda Peacock's classroom is a shelter from the storm. "She makes the class fun and exciting to come to," said Savannah Wilcox, the 11th grader who nominated her. "She gets our personality and she really helps us with different problems you know," said student Lauren MacWilliam. "She is very interested in the things you have to say and the things that you want to do in life," said student Nicholas Clark.

A teacher since 1981, "Mrs. P" has been teaching at Mosley since 1988. This semester it's Informal Geometry and English. It's her third period class who rallied to help her win the Golden Apple. "This is the first time I've had a class do that and I really feel appreciated," she said.

Her students say she is a very effective teacher. Many have seen their math grade improve dramatically. "Last year I was really bad at math and I had F's, straight F's on my report card. Now I have A's and B's on my report card," said Andrew Ehringer. "She is like the best math teacher I have ever had, she will take time out of her lunch, she will stay after school to explain stuff until you get it," said Cody Erickson.

"I enjoy helping kids and when that lightbulb goes on for them it's like yes, we celebrate," said Mrs. Peacock. "I love math now!" said Savannah. "It takes a very understanding and kind heart to be a teacher and Mrs. Peacock epitomizes that," said Principal Sandy Harrison.

Congratulations to Brenda Peacock. This week's Golden Apple award winning teacher.
