BAY COUNTY-- Bay County Health department administrator Douglas Kent says there's a big need for the proposed clinic exam area expansion at west 11th street facility.
It will also have a storage area, and educational rooms for the nursing staff.
"We actually got a grant that allows us to expand this. We will be able to expand our staff by 5 to 6 people," said Douglas Kent, Bay County Health Department Administration.
Kent believes the project will improve access to quality treatment and services for one of the public's biggest health risks.
"This will allow us to tackle the preventable disease in our community and that is diabetes," said Kent.
Health officials believe the larger treatment area will help decrease diabetes rates in bay county, saving taxpayers in the long run.
"Mr. Kent is very adapt, or adaptive, in balancing things and sensing where there's some needs. I think he's done a real good job in the health department," said Guy Tunnell, Bay County Commissioner.
Kent says he hopes to have the new addition completed and ready for use June 30th, 2016.
