PANAMA CITY-- There is a very unique new exhibit at the Science and Discovery Center of Northwest Florida that has kids bubbling with enthusiasm.
All right this is pretty cool, but how does an idea like this, bubble to the service?
"I'm a volunteer for the museum and I've also mentored a couple of projects over at FSU and I saw two problems that could solve themselves. I decided to have the kids at FSU, as their senior design project, build exhibits for the museum and that way the museum gets inexpensive exhibits delivered to them on a regular basis," Bill Porter, electrical engineer, said.
Creating an exhibit like this must offer some special problems to solve
"Can you make this more resilient, can you make it kid-proof and can you make it more interactive? And the kids saw the idea, chose as their project and ran with it and added some new features too."
Porter and others from the NSWC PCD help out a lot around here
"They both made a lot of projects and fixed a lot of um, our existing exhibits."and so we really need new exhibits and technology is growing and we need to show that in our exhibits," Linda Macbeth at the Science and Discovery Center said.
And this is just one of the pretty cool exhibits at the science and discovery center.
Summer classes at the Science & Discovery Center will begin Monday, June 9. Parents are urged to sign their kids up now.
