Police Set Its Sights On Vagrancy

The Bay County Sheriff is now forming a task force to take on the problem of vagrancy.

Bay County Commissioners Tuesday asked Sheriff McKeithen to tackle the problem after they shot down the idea of Panama City Rescue Mission moving to an industrial park on Highway 231. Bay County sheriff deputies currently can not go into Panama City limits and enforce county ordinances because each city has their own rules which is the first thing Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen says the task force should change.

McKeithen says he has already spoke to Panama City Police Chief John Van Etten and will contact the other local chiefs soon.
