BP says small amounts of tar balls are being found along some Northwest Florida Beaches.
The tarballs first started showing up in Alabama after Tropical Storm Lee. Thursday BP is confirming it has sent clean up crews to Florida, mainly in Perdido Key, Pensacola Beach, and Okaloosa and Walton counties.
This week, researchers from Auburn University confirmed the oil that appeared after Lee came from tarmats that settled on the gulf floor.
The study shows the oil appears to be relatively fresh and unchanged from when it first spilled into the gulf last year.
