DeFuniak Spring -- Firefighters were able to post a better-than-average response time after a van caught on fire across the street from the DeFuniak Springs Fire Department.

According to a WZEP reporter, the van was in the parking lot of the old Coke-a-Cola plant on Highway 83 North, and the fire was apparently fed by a fuel leak in the engine compartment. The van’s driver was able to escape without injury, and Fire and Rescue workers were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, using firefighting foam.
