HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) -- Twelve students and two teachers who came down with a rash during class at a South Florida high school have been released from the hospital.
Broward County Public Schools officials say the students were all in the same classroom at McArthur High School in Hollywood on Wednesday when they started complaining about an itching rash.
Paramedics were called to the school and the students and two teachers were decontaminated and sent to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital and Memorial Regional Hospital.
A spokeswoman for Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood said the patients were assessed and cleared. The rash is not believed to be infectious.
The building where the classroom is located remains evacuated, and cleaning crews will sanitize the facility overnight. The cause of the rash remains under investigation.
