A single-vehicle traffic crash Sunday, Feb. 23, claimed three lives and injured two. The crash occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on Covington County 31 five miles south of Andalusia.

Matthew Kenneth Douglas, 30, of Andalusia and passengers Ryan Gibson, 2, and Jordan Gibson, 3, both from Swansea, S.C., all were killed when the 2000 Dodge that Douglas was driving left the roadway and overturned.

Two other passengers, Jessica Gibson, 25, and 7-year-old Haley Gibson, both of Swansea, S.C., were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. Seat belts and child restraints were not in use at the time of the crash, and all of the vehicle’s occupants were ejected.

Alabama State Troopers are continuing their investigation.
