QUITMAN, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities in south Georgia say three high school football players have been killed in a car crash.
Georgia State Patrol spokeswoman Tracey Watson says the teens were involved in a one-car crash Tuesday morning north of Quitman -- about 20 miles west of Valdosta.
Watson says the driver lost control of the vehicle, which veered off of the road and hit a tree.
State troopers have identified the victims as Jicarre Watkins, Johnie Parker, and Shawn Waters, each 18. Authorities say the teens attended Brooks High School and were on their way to a morning practice session when the accident happened.
Authorities say a fourth teen, De'Vron Whitfield, was airlifted to Shands hospital in Jacksonville.
A vigil is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Brooks High School.
