Man Arrested for Scamming Port St. Lucie Senior

TALLAHASSEE (AP) -- A manager of a Port St. Lucie nursing home has been charged with scamming an elderly man out of almost $2,000 while in his care.

Forty-five-year-old Rickey Hatcher was arrested Friday by law enforcement officers with the Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.

Attorney General Bill McCollum says Hatcher, a manager of Luna Long Group Home, had access to the 74-year-old victim's checkbook, wrote himself three checks totaling $1,995 and deposited the funds into his personal checking account.

Hatcher is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail and faces up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
