DAPHNE, Ala. (AP) -- Police have identified 43-year-old Troy MacDonald as a person of interest in the murder of 21-year-old Brianna Parish, whose half-naked body was found in a ditch near a Daphne pub where she was last seen.

Daphne Police Lt. Jud Beedy said Monday at a news conference that MacDonald, who was last seen with Parish before she disappeared, is cooperating with investigators.

No arrests have been made.

Beedy said investigators suspect the slaying was drug-related.

The victim's family said Parish was not involved in drugs. Her mother, Sylinda Parish, said if an autopsy reveals any drugs in her body, "the killer would have put them there."

Parish was last seen around 1 a.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of the Bay House Pub. Her body was found Friday.

The Daphne Police Department is pathetic. They botch every missing persons case. If it's not drugs or DUI, they can't be bothered. It's very disturbing that her parents not only found her body but that they were the ones who contacted the suspect first and had him go to the police. Where were Daphne police?? Why didn't they figure this out on their own?? And now it seems they are trying to discredit the victim and her family.
