CENTER POINT, Ala. (AP) -- A morning fire that ripped through several units of a Center Point condominium building has left six families homeless.
Fire Chief Howard Summerford said four units at the Woodside condominiums received severe damage in the fire Wednesday morning. Another four received smoke and water damage.
Condo resident Earnest Harris, who noticed a lot of smoke coming through his door when he woke up, jumped to safety from the balcony of his second-floor unit wearing only pants and shoes.
Summerford said there were no injuries and the American Red Cross was called to assist the families who have been displaced.
Fire officials are trying to determine the fire's cause.
