$10 Million In Grants Announced For Florida Senior Centers


MIAMI (AP) -- Gov. Charlie Crist has announced $10 million in grants for senior centers across the state.

More than half the funding announced by Crist and Elder Affairs Secretary Doug Beach on Friday will go to build three new centers in Gainesville, Apalachicola and West Kendall.

The remainder goes is earmarked for repair and maintenance at 16 existing centers.

The state estimates 380,000 seniors visit its senior centers each year.
