DECATUR, Ala. (AP) -- Police say a Lawrence County man with an arrest record that spans four counties and his accomplice are accused of stealing a truck and robbing a Decatur bank before going on a mall shopping spree.
Police identified the pair as 24-year-old Kenny Don Holmes of Trinity, and 40-year-old Steven Dale Byerley of Hartselle. Holmes was out of jail on more than $200,000 bail for three prior robbery charges. Police said Byerley also has prior arrests.
According to police, the two men stole a truck in Hatton and drove it to rob a Compass Bank branch in Decatur on Saturday.
They bought clothing and jewelry on the shopping spree before being arrested hours later at a motel.
