Ten Georgia Fires Work of Arsonist

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (AP) -- Firefighters are investigating a rash of fires in DeKalb County, trying to determine whether the same culprit is to blame.

The first fire was reported 4 p.m. Sunday, and the latest just after 5:30 a.m. Monday. Two car rental companies were hit -- one of them twice, 12 hours apart. No injuries were reported.

Three woods fires behind businesses were among the blazes. DeKalb County Fire and Rescue spokesman Eric Jackson says a Stone Mountain daycare center was also hit.

State Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John Oxendine says the fire at the Indian Creek Baptist Church on Memorial Drive was the work of an arsonist.

The commissioner says the blaze started on the ground floor of the education building.
