MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama's nine Electoral College members will meet at the state Capitol in Montgomery at noon today (Monday) to cast their votes for Republican Sen. John McCain.
The mostly ceremonial gathering is one of the final acts of the 2008 election. Similar ceremonies are going on in the other 49 states and the District of Columbia.
The Alabama Republican Party chose Alabama's nine electors because McCain got 60 percent of the vote in the state. Democratic President-elect Barack Obama got 39 percent. Other candidates received 1 percent.
