A snowman collage created by a visually impaired Birmingham girl is being sent to 7,000 people on the holiday card mailing list of U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus and his wife, Linda.

Bachus, who has sent out cards designed by children with visual disorders for 16 years, selected 6-year-old Aubrey Whiteley's "Chilly Day" paper collage on acrylic. Bachus announced his selection on Dec. 2. The Crumley Chapel Elementary first-grader, who suffered a congenital birth defect that impairs her speech and vision, attended the presentation at the Homewood Public Library.

Bachus and Liz Moore, a visually impaired advocate from Birmingham, sponsors programs to celebrate the artistic gifts of disabled children. Each selects a child's art for their annual Christmas card design.
