Atlanta fire fatalities lowest in a decade

Atlanta fire fatalities are the lowest in more than a decade.

The Atlanta Fire-Rescue Department says in a release Thursday that it recorded six fire-related fatalities in 2008. That's down from eight in 2007 and 2006; 11 in 2005; and 10 in 2004.

Department leaders credited educational programs, such as Operation Atlanta Smoke Alarm Program, as well as the hard work of firefighters.
