Savannah police expand search for soldier to Fla.

Savannah police say their search for a missing Fort Stewart soldier is now largely focused on Florida.

Sgt. Charlana McKenzie, a 32-year-old Army medic, has been missing since she failed to pick up her 14-year-old daughter from school Monday.

Savannah-Chatham County police spokesman Gene Harley said Friday leads in the case have caused investigators to concentrate much of their search on central and southeastern Florida. He declined to be more specific.

Police are keeping a lookout for McKenzie's light-green Toyota Camry, which has a vanity license plate that reads "FRVNILA" -- shorthand for "French vanilla."
