The Smyrna City Council has voted to eliminate 15 more city jobs, bringing the total to 31 so far in its effort to save money.
The cuts approved on Tuesday bring to 31 the number eliminated so far. The cuts so far include 15 landscaping jobs and 8 in the sanitation department.
City manager Wayne Wright says 12 of the 31 eliminated positions already were vacant, and when retirements are included, the city expects to lay off seven employees.
The city also decided to stops its leaf vacuuming program and close City Hall an hour earlier at 5 p.m.
