Ala teen held for making $10 bill

It' not a good idea to make your own money. Its a lesson that a 13-year-old Russellville boy won't soon forget.

The teen was placed in juvenile detention Monday after police said he tried to purchase his school lunch with a fake $10 bill. Police said the middle school student admitted he made the bogus currency on his home computer.

Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said the youngster was charged with possession of a forged instrument.

Its a Class B felony under Alabama law that carries a possible prison term of 2-20 years in prison.

Hargett said the boy could also face federal charges.
