Prosecutors say a Jefferson County woman is headed to federal prison after she pleaded guilty to identity theft, bank fraud, and stealing mail from local office parks.
Forty-year-old Amanda Pope of Roebuck was sentenced Thursday to 87 months in prison. She pleaded guilty in Sept. 2008.
U.S. Attorney Alice Martin said in a statement that Pope opened an account at a bank with stolen checks using the identity of another person. The money was withdrawn with an ATM card.
Pope must also pay $6,000 in restitution and serve 3 years on probation after the prison term is completed.
