The University System of Georgia has named Thomas J. Hynes Jr., a longtime official at the University of West Georgia, as interim president of Clayton State University.
Hynes, provost and vice president for academic affairs at West Georgia, will take over at Clayton State on June 1. He will replace Thomas K. Harden, who has resigned.
Hynes assumed his current position at West Georgia in 1996 and has held it ever since, except for two occasions when he stepped in as acting president of the Carrollton school.
Plans for a search for a permanent president at Clayton State have not been announced.
