1 man killed in shooting near West Georgia college

A Carrollton man has been arrested for the early morning shooting death of one man and the wounding of another during a party at an apartment complex near the University of West Georgia.

Police say neither the suspect nor the two men shot were believed to be students.

Carrollton Police Capt. Jami Sailors says the shooting occurred about 2 a.m. Friday during a fight at a party at the College Quad apartments about a mile from the university.

Sailors says 25-year-old Ramondo Johnson of Carrollton was pronounced dead at Tanner Medical Center and a second victim, 21-year-old Rahmere Cowling of Hampton, was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center in critical condition.

He says 24-year-old Traveris Wilson was arrested shortly after the shooting and later charged with murder.
