Decatur police finally caught up with a man who led police on a chase through six cities. They say the man, who's name was not immediately released, sped off when an officer attempted a traffic violation stop Sunday evening.

Police said the man reached speeds of 95 mph as he raced through Decatur, Hartselle, Falkville, Vinemont, Cullman and Hanceville. Decatur officials pursued the driver to the Cullman County line, where the Cullman County Sheriff's Department picked up the chase.

An officer said the man finally stopped after Hanceville police put spikes across the road.

No further information was available.
